Fairfield County Children's Choir Presents

The Best of FCCC Broadway

Please note: The start time has changed to 6pm due to expected weather.

Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 6:00pm

To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, each conductor has chosen a selection of random favorites from thirteen different productions, with two songs each from Fiddler on the Roof and Wicked. These songs stand out to us as classics. In addition, Broadway show tunes are an important part of the cultural heritage of America.

“The Best of FCCC Broadway”  includes five songs from two of our favorite composers, four from Stephen Schwartz and one from Charles Strouse. The FCCC was privileged to work with Mr. Schwartz and Mr. Strouse in the fall of 1997 as composers-in-residence at the Connecticut Grand Opera on their production of An Operatic Tribute to Broadway.

Stephen Schwartz is the composer of Godspell, Children of Eden, The Prince of Egypt, Disney’s Pocahontas and Wicked. The 1997 program included the world premiere live performance of When You Believe from The Prince of Egypt. His awards include three Academy Awards, four Grammy Awards and a special Tony Award for his commitment to fostering new talent.

Charles Strouse received a Tony Award for Best Score as well as two Grammy Awards for Annie. His credits include Bye, Bye Birdie, Applause, and North and South. He is also the composer of Those Were the Days, the theme song for TV’s All in The Family.

The concert features nearly 300 of the “Best” young singers in Fairfield County. We know you will enjoy listening to them navigate this wonderful collection of American culture!
