Robin deHaas: The Mechanics of Breathing Coordination
Film, Lecture & Workshop
Saturday, October 15, 2022
11am - 3pm
These principles have been applied to asthma patients, Olympic athletes, professional singers, and
everyone in between. Anyone interested in learning how the body is designed for maximum breathing should
attend.
Breathing Coordination can be applied to preventing disease and addressing
such conditions as chronic bronchitis, long Covid, sleep apnea, asthma and many others.
The Klein is honored to present the CT debut of a documentary film featuring the work of Swiss voice
teacher and breathing expert, Robin deHaas, co-founder of MDHBC (Martin & DeHaas Breathing Coordination). Immediately following the film, Robin will give a lecture and will demonstrate the
principles of breathing coordination with ten volunteer subjects. The documentary has been shown in cinemas and festivals all over the world.
Note: Breathing Coordination is the trademarked name of techniques discovered by Carl
Stough, founder of the Stough Institute of Breathing Coordination, during his research working with emphysema patients at St. Alban’s and West Haven Veterans Hospitals from
1959-66. Stough always said, “There is a right and a wrong way to breathe.” Mr. Stough, who also served as the breathing consultant for the USA Track & Field Team
during the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, passed away in 2000, and Stough’s former associate Lynn Martin and Robin deHaas have advanced the work in the years since.
